What are the subjects to be studied for CPT ?

CPT covers a total of four subjects in two sections
(I) Session I (Two Sections, Two Hours, 100 Marks)
      Section A: Fundamentals of Accounting (60 Marks)
      Section B: Mercantile Law (40 Marks)
(II) Session II (Two Sections, Two Hours, 100 Marks)
      Section C: General Economics (50 Marks)
      Section D: Quantitative Aptitude (50 Marks)

What documents and proofs are required at the time of registration for CPT ?

The following documents are required to be submitted at the time of registration:
   (1) Demand draft towards registration other fees
   (2) Attested copy of Date of Birth and Class X Marksheet
   (3) Attested Copy of Proof of Nationality, if the student is Foreigner
   (4) Attested copy of proof f special category certificate i.e. SC/ST, OBC and Differently abled in case it’s required.

*Add Rs. 100 or US $ 10 along with registration fees in case the form is downloaded on-line.

How Can I apply for CPT?

A student is required to apply in the prescribed form.
Prospectus can be brought from all Regional Offices/ Branches of the Institute by Submitting Rs. 100/-. Application form is available with the prospectus.
Or,
A student can also download the application form from the Institute’s website www.icai.org, in case, the form is downloaded from the website, add Rs. 100/- or US $10/- with the registration fee.
Students can also fill CPC registration on-line. The same is available on Institute’s website www.icai.org
The prospected can also be procured from post from any of the offices of the Institute on a payment of Rs. 140/- (Rs. 40/- Postal Charges)

Can Graduates also enroll for the program? Do they have to clear CPT too?

Yes.The following categories of students shall be exempt from passing the Common Proficiency Test (CPT) as per Notification No. 1 - CA (7)/145/2012 dated 1st August, 2012:-
(A) Graduates or Post Graduates in Commerce who have secured in aggregate a minimum of55% of the total marks or its equivalent grade in the examination conducted by any recognized University (including Open University) by studying any three papers of 100 marks each of Accounting, Auditing, Mercantile Laws, Corporate Laws, Economics, Management (including Financial Management), Taxation (including Direct Tax Laws and Indirect Tax Laws), Costing, Business Administration or Management Accounting;
(B) Graduates or Post Graduates other than those falling under Commerce streammentioned above having secured in aggregate a minimum of 60% of the total marks or itsequivalent grade in the examination conducted by any recognized University (includingOpen University).Abovecategory of students can commence practical training after undergoingOrientation Course and Information Technology Training (ITT)
Provisional Registration:Students who are pursuing the Final year of Graduation Course shall be eligible for provisionalregistration to the Intermediate (Integrated Professional Competence) Course. Such studentswould be required to submit satisfactory proof of having passed the graduation examination withthe specified percentage of marks within six months, from the date of appearance in the finalyear graduation examination (i.e. from the day of commencement of theexamination). Duringthe period of provisional registration, a student can undergo and complete InformationTechnology Training (ITT) and Orientation Course. It is clarified that in their case, the practicaltraining shall commence only on becoming a Graduate with specified percentage of marks. Suchstudents shall be eligible for appearing in the Intermediate (Integrated ProfessionalCompetence Examination on completion of nine months of practical training. If such students fail to producethe proof within the aforesaid period, his provisional registration shall stand cancelled and theregistration and other fees, as the case may be, paid by him shall not be refunded/ adjusted andno credit shall also be given for the theoretical education undergone.
(C) Candidates who have passed the Intermediate level examination or its examination by whatever name called conducted by The Institute of Cost Accountants ofIndia or by The Institute of Company Secretaries of India.Abovecategory of students shall be eligible toappear in the Intermediate (IPC)Examination after undergoing study course period of 8 months.

How to check your CA CPT results?

Method 1: CA CPT Online Results 

Results can be found on the official ICAI website: http://icaiexam.icai.org/login.php
  1. Go to the result section.
  2. Click on CA CPT 2015 Result & Score Card.
  3. Enter your registration number and date of birth.
  4. Click on Submit button.
  5. Results will appear on your screen
  6. Download or take a printout of your CA CPT result.
Method 2: CA CPT Result through SMS
Considering the unavailability of internet with a lot of students, ICAI has launched an SMS service, using which you can check out your CA CPT results through SMS. Just do the following

1.     Type: CACPT(Space)XXXXXX (Where XXXXXX is the six digit Common Proficiency Test (CPT) roll number)

2.     Send this message to 58888 for all mobile services. The charge for this message is not standard and will depend on the mobile service vendor you’re using. Mostly, it’s ether ₹3 or ₹6.
